Using this script/tool to allow for post-creation encryption of volumes?

Hey there!

Not quite sure where to post this idea, but I was wondering if this ability to backup and restore packages is what could allow me to encrypt my /volume1, which was created way back when, before volume encryption was a thing.
Then it got me to thinking:
Could this script be modified to dump and restore an entire volume?
The process would look something like this:

• dump /volume1 to an archive on /volume2
• remove /volume1
• create new, encrypted /volume1
• restore archive of /volume1
• profit

What do we think? 😉

Sounds like a huge amount of work 😄

Many people use the syno_app_mover script to do what you suggested, or to change /volume1 from ext4 to btrfs.

1. Move your installed packages and Synology's @database with syno_app_mover.
