[Question] SAS3008 - Sanitize Support - Weird RTFRs #229

Describe what you need help with

Sanitize Erase / Status Commands via openSeaChest (and others) to... well any SSD I have tried on this HBA so far - Security Erase commands work fine and the RTFRs are .

When executing Sanitize commands via SAS3008 12Gbps HBAs I am seeing the command execute as expected.

However, when polling for progress with --progress sanitize - we are seeing no RTFRs - and the Sanitize output is incorrect. When running this command on the same drive - we see success and we are able to poll for Progress.

Similarly - HDParm outputs a similar response to openSeaChest when executing the Sanitize/Status commands - with there being very little information to go by.

Sanitize
Starting Sanitize Block Erase
If Sanitize appears to be taking much longer than expected, the system or HBA
may not be handling the sanitize in progress state correctly. If this happens
the next best thing to do is leave the drive powered on with the interface
cable(SATA / SAS HBA cable) disconnected. Sanitize will continue running
while the drive is powered on and the system will no longer be able to
interrupt or slow down the sanitize operation.
NOTE: On an HDD, the approximate overwrite time is 1.5-2 hours per terabyte
      of the native capacity of the drive. Reduced size for maxLBA does not
      reduce the time sanitize takes to overwrite the drive.
      On an SSD, the overwrite time will be much faster and varies depending
      on the capabilities of the SSD controller.

This all looks good - however, the issue comes when trying to issue the Sanitize Status command... we get no RTFRs coming back with the Sense Data - which in turn seems to then suggest that the drive is no longer Sanitizing - although a READ10 does then return an error as expected.

Sanitize - Status returning: SUCCESS

	This device has never been sanitized.

So this is a tricky one ... - does anyone know what could cause this to comeback with incomplete RTFRs? Therefore meaning we are not able to see the Progress Indication? Even though I know the command is running - and a few seconds longer than this to run - on a SAS2008 HBA - we are seeing the output correctly... strange behaviour.
