Proposal: ATPro + Blacksky integration into open source platform

What's up, beautiful people. I've been clocking this project for a minute now and I'm thoroughly impressed by what is being accomplished. This community is doing things with the ATPro protocol I didn't think could be done and it is a pleasure watching it come together in real time.

So I've been talking with @rudyfraser about some ideas I've been having about a possible collaboration between what I'm doing with Activity Pub and Blacksky and he asked me to make a post here to share those thoughts and ideas.

Ok, so a bit of background. My name is Ro and for the last couple of years I've been working on two AP projects. The first is Fipamo, a blog engine I built a few years ago that I'm repurposing as a social media platform and the second is The Bad Space, a safety and moderation toolkit companion project to be used with Fipamo to give folks the ability to keep bad actors away from their site.

There is a lot of overlap between the safety and moderation priority between the two projects, and I had always planned for Fipamo to be protocol agnostic, and the rise of Blacksky and the ability to host Bluesky independently has raised an exciting opportunity to leverage both Activity Pub and ATPro on a self-hosted platform that can use both of the safety tools being created, respectively.

The thought I can't get out of my head is giving people the ability to set up their own sites and being able to communicate with either protocol independently with not only safety tools tuned to our specific needs and wants but control of the codebase so we can adapt the platform to our community needs as opposed to just waiting for some faceless group of devs on a centralized platform that don't really care about us.

It feels like there is a major opportunity for us to completely break away from centralized platforms and have a social web that is on our terms.
