Problem Description
When using multiple custom Model Providers, Users need to update their current conversation settings in order to make other models available as options in the the dropdown:

Screen.Recording.2025-05-14.at.6.14.33.AM.mov

and there is no way to configure that globally so they have to re-do that every time I start a new chat 😢

Proposed Solution

Add a setting to the Model Provider Add to Model Selector that's a checkbox. If checked it appears in the list

Additional Context

This is probably only a rough edge for me because of how OpenRouter is bolted on

I seem to be able to achieve the functionality you need through a custom model provider.

I think what the OP is generally describing is the difficulty of switching between multiple providers. There is a way to switch models easily, but not providers. They suggest one solution. I would prefer a second drop down menu next to the model selector, but either would be an improvement over the current Workflow of opening settings, selecting the provider dropdown, selecting provider, clicking save.

The next version will support selecting models from multiple providers in the model selector. This version is currently in Beta, and you can try out the new features early by enabling "Beta updates."

Could you please describe how you were able to achieve this? Thanks.
