Flexasio FLstudio problem

Hi so to start I am very new to FL studio so this problem might sound dumb

I am using a USB mic and was recommended Flex as a way to lower latency, the YouTube video I watched said to use "Direct Sound" as the backend option, and it cut my latency from 62ms to 5ms. The problem is when I try to set my mic to put down vocals, no audio comes in nor is it detected anywhere in FL, in discord its fine, on top of that when I try to play an instrumental it doesn't play at all. not that I don't get audio it just does not start playing at all, but I can still use Spotify and hear it fine. Ive tried closing all those apps like discord, MSedge etc. anything to do with audio and nothing. I cant find any videos or forums with anyone else having the issue so any help or explanation will be greatly appreciated.
