"failed to find target default" caused by Docker buildx 0.26.0

The root cause of the problem

docker/buildx#3328

It seems that the Gitea runner images were updated a couple of days ago. As a result, they started using Docker buildx version 0.26.0, which caused problems with Gitea runners.

Possible solutions:

Downgrade/upgrade buildx in runner images, since this issue was fixed in version 0.26.1.

Fucking hell, downgrading docker to 2.38.1 hasn't worked, for some reason... Did anyone made it work with gitea?

This is a dead end for gitea, don't try to do this, it will not work.

@Ccry11 Here is the workaround:

Go to your runner config file and hardcode the ubuntu runner that is working (if you don't use the ubuntu runner, then look for a version that works for your runner):

My final label was: ubuntu-22.04-v25.04.01:docker://gitea/runner-images:ubuntu-22.04-v25.04.01

Confirm that your hardcoded label was loaded on gitea:

Now update all of your pipelines to use the hardcoded label:

This will make the docker runner work now:

(my deployment failed, but that is my problem, unrelated to the docker issue)

Workaround: edit config.yaml:
