Desired Behavior

Proposal: I would like to propose the creation of a new section on the platform titled "Testimonials and Inspiring Stories". The idea is to provide a space where users can share their personal experiences, achievements, and challenges related to their mental health. This could be a powerful tool to foster empathy, mutual support, and a sense of community within the platform.

Objectives of this section:

Strengthen the community: Users will be able to connect with one another, support each other, and share stories of overcoming challenges.

Empower users: The stories will serve as a source of inspiration and motivation for those going through similar situations.

Align with IF-ME values: This proposal aligns with IF-ME’s mission to promote openness, support, and inclusion in mental health.

Considerations:

Design and accessibility: It's important that this section is user-friendly and accessible to all users, including those with specific needs.

Moderation: A moderation system should be established to ensure the testimonials are respectful and safe for all users.

How can it be implemented?

Forms could be included for users to submit their testimonials.

The interface should be intuitive and allow users to easily post their stories.

Suggested labels:

feature: Since it is a new feature for the platform.

design: If it involves interface design work.

accessibility: If it is deemed necessary to make it accessible to users with specific needs.

Criteria for Completion

Thanks for putting together is proposal! It would be cool to integrate this feature with existing features we have.

I think our Care Plan feature would be a great candidate for this — a way to celebrate wins within your network and optionally choose to publicize it. And we can make a public page in the app to aggregate these publicized posts. The only thing to consider is moderation. We might want to leverage the existing Admin feature, where people can report users to block / ban off the platform (depending on their actions). Publicized posts should only go through Admin approval before being shared on the public page.

I completely agree with the proposal. Integrating this functionality into the Care Plan makes a lot of sense. Users will be able to write about their experiences, achievements, or even their mental health care process, which will allow them to reflect on their evolution and progress in a personal way.

Then, they can decide whether to share those stories with their trusted network or publish them publicly. Moderation through the admin page is essential to ensure that all publicly shared content meets the community's safety and respect standards. With this moderation, we can maintain a controlled and positive space for all users.

I think this solution is perfect, as it allows users to express themselves freely while ensuring a safe and respectful environment.

Awesome! We have an existing design system you can make use of for UI components i.e. https://design.if-me.org/ (you can access it locally by running yarn storybook from client). Let's figure out if we need new components!
