It allows you to use the application commands from your account without having the bot in the server.

Hmm, if that is only slash commands then I don't see much point because render and ast only work as normal commands due to code blocks.

Well it could theoretically open modal but I understand your point.

Sorry, I don't know much about slash commands, what do you mean open modal? Is that during the input, or do you run the command without the code and then get a modal popup to input the code, or something else?

You'll run for example /render and then something like https://discord.com/developers/docs/interactions/message-components#text-inputs will open. You'll write the code you want, click submit, and it'll send the message to the channel. (https://discordjs.guide/interactions/modals.html#building-and-responding-with-modals)

We discussed a bit in the Typst Discord, I think the conclusion is that the update-on-edit functionality and the message sending experience are too important, so we are not interested in implementing the feature, because it would not apply to our use case. That said, I would happily accept a PR.
