Website search is pretty wonky

I was trying to find this page:

https://napari.org/stable/howtos/layers/image.html

But search for the title with or without quotes finds it only as the ~30th hit:

https://napari.org/stable/search.html?q=Using+the+image+layer

Probably this is a pydata sphinx theme issue but I wanted to note it down here so we can investigate more thoroughly before reporting upstream.

I would agree that I'm always surprised by what the search prioritizes.
Instead, I often find myself googling the page I think might exist.
It looks, at least, like your search returns alphabetical, which seems solvable.

Yeah, search is not even a theme thing, it's a Sphinx thing. I'm not sure we can do anything there except for choosing a different search engine like Algolia, although I have never done that myself.

@melissawm Here's a sphinx extension for Algolia: https://sphinx-docsearch.readthedocs.io/index.html Looks like we could probably get Open Source free or reduced rate.
