Improving documentation of citation

Hi! I just wanted to link to jgm/pandoc#11159 (comment) about collapsed narrative style citations, which are not directly mentioned in the documentation of Quarto citations.

It would be nice do add one example to indicate that it is possible to do that, since it is not necessarily obvious.

Thanks for the message. It's an antigoal of our documentation to become a mirror of Pandoc's own docs. I understand that Pandoc is big and overwhelming, but:

1. Quarto's documentation should focus on Quarto-specific things,
2. this is a relatively uncommon usage of Pandoc's citation syntax,
3. we will (relatively soon) replace parsing of Markdown in a way that might mean we're diverging from Pandoc in this instance.

When we get to stage 3, then we'll definitely need to document our syntax. Right now the benefits do not outweigh the costs.

Right, if parsing is replaced, I sure wish collapsing in that way will be supported because it is very common in my field to have "Author (2001, 2002, 2003)"...
