Background

We submitted this proposal here a few months ago to research and implement some needed new features for security and scaling (passing env secrets to providers in an encrypted way + working on auto-scaling via Terraform and ArgoCD) Based on feedback we decided not to post the proposal on-chain at the time (was too broad) and focused on a new direction instead.

Below is a new proposal that will generate some awesome KPIs for Akash! (Thousands of new Devs with successfully deployed Dapps on Akash)

Akash + DevDapp Sponsorship

🟩 Support the launch of DevDapp! Our GitHub rewards engine will award AKT tokens to developers for performing tasks in GitHub.

🔗 How DevDapp Works

1. After learning the basics of GitHub, the Akash deployment is the first major points-generating task! We made a nice clickflow guide below to walk new devs of any experience level through the trial wallet deployment process. Currently we have ~1000 successfully closed issues in our game repo for devs completing the first task.

2. Our system will test the submitted issues URL for a 503 instead of a 404 to determine that it was deployed. (as trial wallets only support 1 microservice) Then administer the labels to give devs their points in DevDapp.

3. Devs who submit an issue with a fully working Dapp on Akash will get exponentially more points towards winning the grand prize.

Ask

▪️$130k USD AKT (Will administer rewards in native Akash). All funds are calculated off chain and sent at the end of the season. This means there are no exploits for getting funds onchain during the game.

Deliverables

▪️Official Cloud Provider Status for RAIRprotocol and member of RAIRprotocol partner network (Along with Soneium, Alchemy, etc). Default environment variable configurations in our mono-repo so all new Devs that use RAIRprotocol deploy with Akash first!

▪️Administer Developer Onboarding program. Send out AKT to winning devs at the end of the season. Return unspent funds to community pool with KPI results before asking for a Season 2 tranche.

Distribution

In Native AKT. Actual payout could be more or less at the conclusion of the season. E.g. 5 usd at time of receiving funds could be 2 or 10 at the time of payout. No buffer is being asked for to cover price fluctuation. AKT won't be converted and dev payouts could be more or less.

▪️50k - Grand prize pool. Max 10 winning Dapp submissions. 5k per winner. If less than 10 winning Dapps return unspent to pool.
▪️50k - Completion prize pool. Max $5 usd per dev up to first 10k devs. If less than 10k devs then return unspent to pool.
▪️30k - Ancillary costs to DevDapp to administer the campaign. Promotion, dev, devrel.
