The latest version of Chrome browser npm run dev cannot open extensions,

When running npm run dev, the extension does not display after opening the Chrome browser

This is not a problem with wxt but Chrome.
You need to install Chrome for Testing and point to the chrome binary in your config

v0.20.7 disables the change to chrome while I work on an alternative to web-ext that doesn't use --load-extension: #1700
