Problem
Users reported Redis Cluster failures with the error "EVALSHA - all keys must map to the same key slot" when using LiteLLM's rate limiting features with Redis Cluster v6.22+. This error occurred in the parallel request limiter when executing Lua scripts for batch rate limiting operations.
Root Cause
The
async_register_script
method inRedisCache
was calling Redis Cluster'sscript_load()
andevalsha()
methods synchronously instead of asynchronously. This caused coroutine objects to be passed where actual values were expected:Solution

After this fix, the same operations work correctly because the async Redis Cluster operations are properly awaited.

Impact
Users can now use Redis Cluster with LiteLLM's rate limiting features without encountering the EVALSHA key slot error. The fix maintains full backward compatibility with existing standalone Redis installations.
Fixes the issue reported in the original problem where Redis Cluster configurations would fail with rate limiting enabled.
