There's an issue with the shouldAvoidTriggerChange property. This property is initialized in the constructor, but it's never set to true anywhere in the provided code, which means the condition if (!this.shouldAvoidTriggerChange) will always evaluate to true (since shouldAvoidTriggerChange is always false).
