Summary

  • bump the documented and enforced minimum Node.js version to 22.x
  • align Debian/RPM/Alpine packaging scripts with the new requirement
  • update public README messaging about supported Node.js versions

Testing

  • npm test (fails in this sandbox because dependencies like debug are not installed; rerun after installing modules)

Fixes #6040
