Summary of Changes
Hello @joehan, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!
This pull request introduces a significant enhancement to the firestore:databases:create
command by enabling users to specify the desired database edition (Standard or Enterprise) directly from the command line. This change involves extending the command's options, implementing robust input validation, and updating the internal API type definitions to support the new databaseEdition
parameter, ensuring seamless integration with the Firestore backend.
Highlights
- Feature Addition: The
firestore:databases:create
command now supports a new--edition
flag, allowing users to specify the Firestore database edition (Standard or Enterprise) during creation. - Input Validation: The command includes validation to ensure that the
--edition
flag accepts only 'standard' or 'enterprise' as valid values, providing helpful error messages for invalid inputs. - API Integration: The underlying Firestore API types have been updated to include the
DatabaseEdition
enum, enabling the command to correctly pass the chosen edition to the Firestore backend. - Comprehensive Testing: A new dedicated test file (
firestore-databases-create.spec.ts
) has been added, providing extensive unit test coverage for thecreate
command, including the new--edition
flag, various other options (delete protection, point-in-time recovery, KMS key), and error handling.

Code Review
This pull request adds support for selecting the database edition (standard
or enterprise
) when creating a new Firestore database. The changes include adding a new --edition
flag to the firestore:databases:create
command, updating the relevant API type definitions, and adding unit tests. The edition
option is missing from the FirestoreOptions
type definition, and the databaseEdition
is not being passed in the API call to create the database. I've also included a suggestion to improve the maintainability of the command-line option parsing.
@ehsannas took this PR over, closing in favor of his. |
