Community Meetups

  • 2600
    • Portland's original hacker meetup. No leaders, no rules, just the free exchange of ideas.
    • Meets at 7:00pm every first Friday of the month at East Burnside Sizzle Pie (624 E Burnside).
  • CitySec PDX: RainSec
    • RainSec is an informal group of like-minded security professionals who meet to network and discuss topics of interest in a non-work, non-vendor setting.
    • Meets at 6:30pm every last Tuesday of the month at Lucky Lab SE (915 SE Hawthorne Blvd).
  • DC503
    • This Defcon group is Portland's offensive security focused hacker fight club.
    • In person meetups resumed in September 2023; ask around at other meetups for an invite.
  • Exploit Workshop
    • An open, self driven event for people interested in computer security. Whether you're a novice or career professional, all are welcome.
    • Meeting in-person w/ optional virtual attendance, contact Dean Pierce for more information.
  • OWASP PDX
    • The Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) is a free and open community focused on improving the security of application software.
  • Portland CyberSecurity Group (PCS)
    • The Portland chapter of the CyberSecurity Non-Profit (CSNP); a 501(c)(3) non-profit promoting security education and inclusivity.
    • Typically a virtual meeting with presentations.
  • Hack in The Box Meetup (Vancouver, WA)
    • Join fellow cybersecurity enthusiasts for discussions, knowledge exchange, and hands-on hacking on dedicated Hack The Box machines.
    • Typically a virtual meeting hosted on Discord.

Professional Organizations

  • Cybersecurity Collaboration Forum: PDX
    • A group of Portland area information security executives and senior decision makers that meet to talk high level security strategy (usually over dinner).
    • Meets sporadically, but the latest events are always listed in the footer of the communities page.
  • ISACA Portland
    • The Portland Oregon Chapter of ISACA represents IT Security, Audit and Compliance Professionals in the Oregon/SW Washington region.
    • ISACA meetings are for dues-paying chapter members.
    • You can find information on membership here.
  • (ISC)² Willamette Valley
    • (ISC)² chapter membership connects you with your local peers so you can network and give back to the community by sharing your time, talent, knowledge, and experience.
    • A monthly virtual meeting open to anyone in Oregon or Southwest Washington, and an annual in-person meeting.
    • Membership is not limited to existing (ISC)² members, anyone can join.
  • ISSA Portland
    • The Information Systems Security Association is a not-for-profit, international organization of information security professionals and practitioners.
    • ISSA meetings are for dues-paying chapter members, though some lunches have a limited number of non-member tickets available.
