Summary of Changes

Hello @huiwq1990, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request introduces a new feature to the vllm_router by adding a dedicated API route for audio transcriptions. It generalizes the underlying request handling to support multipart/form-data payloads, allowing the router to effectively proxy audio files and associated metadata to backend transcription services, complete with dynamic model routing capabilities.

Highlights

  • New API Endpoint: I've added a new POST endpoint /v1/audio/transcriptions to the main router, enabling clients to send audio files for transcription.
  • Multipart Form Data Support: The core request processing logic (process_request) has been enhanced to properly handle and forward multipart/form-data requests, which is essential for uploading audio files along with other parameters.
  • Transcription-Specific Routing: A new dedicated function, route_general_transcriptions, has been introduced to manage the specific routing logic for transcription requests, including parsing form data, validating required fields (like 'model'), and dynamically selecting the appropriate backend service based on the requested model.

Code Review

The code changes introduce a new route for handling audio transcriptions. The changes involve adding a new endpoint in main_router.py and a corresponding handler function route_general_transcriptions in request.py. The handler extracts form data, routes the request to an appropriate engine, and streams the response back to the client. There are a few issues related to parameter passing and consistency that should be addressed.

hey @huiwq1990 Thanks for submitting this PR! However, seems like #469 has already been proposing the changes for transcriptions routing. Can you take a look at that?
